
DENR-EMB Region IV-A Monitors the University for the NSSEFS
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region 4-A, through the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB), in cooperation with the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), visited the University on February 22, 2024, for the National Search for Sustainable and Eco-friendly Schools (NSSEFS) program.
In 2017, the University was recognized as one of the Regional Winners of the NSSEFS Tertiary Division. As part of their program, the team from DENR-EMB Region IV-A, comprising Ms. Maria Aurora Llave, DENR-EMB R4A Officer-in-Charge, Ms. Anne Clarisse Canceran, and Mr. Vee Cementina, conducted photo documentation and monitoring of previous regional winners to ensure the sustainability of the schools’ environmental programs and best practices in environmental protection.
Led by Mr. Oemer Rey Daquila, University Advancement director, along with Mrs. Maureen Mariñas, Planning and Institutional Effectiveness, Mr. Juarren Vegafria, Environmental Management supervisor, and Dr. Reuben Carpizo, Accreditation director, toured the DENR-EMB Region IV-A team around the campus.
They also visited the Art Park, Creation Science Center, College of Science and Technology, College of Education, and Material Recovery Facility of the University.
Also present during the meeting were Mr. Edwin Balila, College of Science and Technology dean; Dr. Michael Naidas, College of Arts and Humanities dean; Dr. Jervenesense Florece, National Service Training Program Department chair, and Dr. Jolly Balila, Research Office director.
