The Ethics Review Board (ERB)<\/h1>\n

The ERB is AUP\u2019s institutional research ethics committee, tasked with providing an independent, competent, and timely ethical review of proposed studies. The main purpose of the ERB is to help safeguard the dignity, rights, safety, and well-being of research participants.<\/p>\n

Researchers engaged in biomedical, behavioral, educational, and social research may apply for an ethical review of their research as long as these do not fall under the following categories:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Studies involving animal subjects (for example, mammals, reptiles, birds).<\/li>\n
  2. Studies involving indigenous peoples (IP).<\/li>\n
  3. Clinical studies (clinical trials or clinical research).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    These studies require clearance from appropriate government agencies (PALAS, NCIP, DOH respectively) and a research ethics committee with either Level 2 or Level 3 accreditation.<\/p>\n
