In a ceremony filled with tradition and dedication, 216 College of Nursing Level 2 students donned their white uniforms, complete with caps and pins, on October 17, 2024. This graduating class, known as \u201cLuminaire,\u201d symbolizes their role as \u201cbearers of light,\u201d prepared to provide high-quality Christian service and make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cAs nurses, we are sources of comfort and hope, bringing light to the darkest moments of a patient\u2019s life,\u201d Dina Galang, the keynote speaker and former dean of the College of Nursing, expressed. \u201cLuminaire,\u201d connecting it to the legacy of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n She also addressed the evolving nature of nursing, acknowledging the unique position of this batch as they embrace their roles in the digital age. \u201cYou are now the nurses of the digital age, offering a revolutionized nursing care using technology to enhance care but not replace it,\u201d she added. Her words served as a reminder that while technology may transform the healthcare landscape, the core values of empathy and compassion remain unchanged. She encouraged the students to \u201ccontinue your academic journey and strive to live as children of Light, illuminating the Saviour\u2019s love and grace.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cAs you wear your caps and pins, you are stepping into roles that will allow you to illuminate the lives of those around you,\u201d Dr. Ray Caagbay, the current dean of the College of Nursing, expressed, referencing Matthew 5:14-16 as a guiding principle that encapsulates their calling as nurses.\u00a0Dr. April M. Obon, the chair of the CON Level 2 Department, highlighted the caps and pins, which signify their induction into the nursing profession. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Representing the class, President Kuiel Gatus shared a heartfelt message\u00a0about imparting a lasting impact in the healthcare and healing ministry. \u201cAs bearers of light, let us shine our brightest.
