The College of Teacher Education (CTE) formally introduced three scholars of the B&E Mangoba Scholarship Grant to the donor\u2019s family during a meeting in the Conference Room of the Adminis- trative Office Building on February 4, 2026. The gathering fostered meaningful dialogue among the scholars, University administrators, and the Mangoba family, highlighting a shared commitment to nur- turing future educators.<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s scholarship recipients are Gadlyn Mae Fillarca, Genard Malimban, and Arlyn Dagangon, all enrolled in the Bachelor of Sec- ondary Education major in English program. The occasion provided them not only financial affirmation but also personal encouragement from the family whose generosity sustains their academic pursuits.<\/p>\n
Central to the event was the inspiring academic journey of Dr. Mangoba, whose life story laid the foundation for the scholarship. Beginning his career as a public school teacher, he completed his<\/p>\n
bachelor\u2019s degree in elementary education before earning two mas- ter\u2019s degrees in education, specializing in educational administration and supervision and in elementary education. His dedication even- tually led him to pursue and complete a Doctor of Education degree abroad after receiving a scholarship opportunity. His professional path reflects perseverance, faith, and a deep sense of gratitude toward institutions that supported his growth.<\/p>\n
The scholarship was established through the generosity of Dr. Tony Mangoba in honor of his parents, Dr. and Mrs. Esther Mangoba. During the meeting, a memorandum of agreement was signed to formalize continued collaboration. Starting in June 2026, Dr. Mangoba will serve as a missionary-volunteer faculty member in the College of Teacher Education, while Mrs. Mangoba will support fundraising efforts benefiting the wider University community.<\/p>\n
Dr. Arceli Rosario, University president, and Dr. Jeremiah Fameronag, CTE dean, conveyed their appreciation for the Mangoba family\u2019s partnership and its alignment with the University\u2019s mission of faith-driven service and academic excellence.<\/p>\n
The scholars expressed their gratitude for the scholarship that they had received and their determination to finish their studies. Fillarca pledged to consistently give her best. Malimban emphasized honoring the scholarship and glorifying God through excellence. Dagangon shared how the grant eased her struggles as a working student, calling it a life-changing blessing.<\/p>\n
